Dr. Aruna Shekar
Senior Lecturer, Massey University
Dr. Aruna Shekar is a Senior Lecturer in Product Development at Massey University’s School of Engineering and Advanced Technology, New Zealand. Her research interests are in product development methods, consumer research and co-design practices. She has taught at Massey for more than twenty years, and has coordinated the final year product development projects with industry. She is a Foundation Board member of the Product Development & Management Association in New Zealand (www.pdma-nz.org). She is also PDMA-USA’s Vice President for Asia-Pacific Affiliates.
Aruna received her PhD in Product Development from Massey University, and has supervised several postgraduate students. She facilitates project-based learning and fosters critical thinking among her students. Born in India, Dr. Shekar has lived in New Zealand for 30 years, including a couple of years in Australia.

Mr. B.S Mubarak started his career in Indian Foreign Service in the year 2001 and he served in Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Palestine. He has core interest on Commercial Diplomacy. Presently, he is deployed as Director (South) in the Southern Division of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) handles bilateral relations among all countries of ASEAN (Except Myanmar) Australia and New Zealand and Pacific Island Countries. Mr. B.S Mubarak has handled several VVIP visits, including the visit of Prime Minster of Singapore, Prime Minster of Australia and Prime Minister of Malaysia and Thailand. He has traveled several countries and contributed in strengthening India’s bilateral relations of these countries. Mr. B.S Mubarak was the nodal point from MEA for the India-Pacific Islands Sustainable Development Conference organized in Fiji in May 2016, along with India 14 Pacific Island Countries participated in the two-day conference. He coordinated line Ministries and has involved in promoting inward Foreign Direct Investments and Technology transfers in the area of Energy, Coal and Clean Energy. Mr. B.S Mubarak has participated in round table meetings related to transfer of technology and foreign investments. He worked with Singapore in the areas of skill development, urban planning and smart cities.
During his tenure as Consul General of India in Jeddah (2014-2016) He revived the Saudi India Business Network (SIBN) which is a forum of businessmen form India and Saudi Arabia and worked for the promotion of trade and investment between India and Saudi Arabia . MR. B.S Mubarak has mounted delegation of Saudi Businessmen to visit the Gems and Jewelry fairs in India. He has arranged several B2B meetings with Saudi Business entities. He handled two Haj Operations successfully, which is the largest operation coordinated by the Government of India outside our borders. During his tenure as Head of the Diplomatic Mission in Palestine (2012-2014) he promoted the import of Indian ceramics, marbles, machinery and food items from Indian and was also involved in project development in Palestine.
During his tenure as Consul in Jeddah (Aug 2008-2012) Mr. B.S Mubarak has handled four Haj operations. During his stint in Dubai (2006-2008) He Acted as Consul General for a period of three months and during that period, he has facilitated and encouraged trade promotion between India and UAE. During his tenure as Consul in Dubai, he also handled community welfare, consular issues and administration. In Cario (2003-05) he learnt Arabic and then he was posted as Director of Maulana Azad Center for Indian Culture. During that period, he organized several programs to promote Indian culture by engaging the Egyptian youths.

Mr.Sumant is a Science graduate from Delhi University in 1986. He subsequently acquired modern jewellery manufacturing techniques in Pforzheim, Germany, Problem Solving Tools and Techniques from AOTS, Japan Diploma in Sustainability Management from Swedish Institute, Sweden, a certificate course in Radical Innovation from Massachusetts Institute Of Technology, USA. Certificate Course in Strategy and the Sustainable Enterprise from IIM Bangalore and A certificate course in Digital Branding and Engagement from Curtin University, Australia.
He started his career in 1986 with a German Company marketing Jewellery manufacturing equipments in India. In 1990 he joined a diamond and jewellery manufacturing concern in SEEPZ, Mumbai. In 1993, he joined Titan Company Limited, when they were setting up their jewellery venture. He has worked in various spheres of manufacturing operations and before moving onto Category Management in Marketing, Systems and Business Excellence for Jewellery Division and Corporate Communications for the Company. He led the division to win the coveted JRD-QV award in 2012 and is currently heading Innovation for the Company. Keeping his impeccable track record, he has been appointed as a Locational Ethics Counsellor for the Company since 2003.
He is a senior assessor for the Tata Business Excellence Model based on Malcolm Baldrige Quality Model having completed 14 assessments of various Tata Group Companies and has been a faculty member for training assessors for the same. He has also been an external assessor for CII-EXIM award process and has successfully assessed three companies In 2013, Sumant along with Mr. L.R. Natarajan has been declared one of nine winners for their entry submitted for the MIX Prize - Leaders Everywhere Challenge conducted by Harvard Business Review and Mckinsey. Besides mentoring various innovation projects, Sumant has also been a member of the team which won the award under “Dare to Try” category in Tata Innovista 2016.

Dr. Saravana Kumar

Dr. Saravana Kumar received his PhD from IIT Kanpur in 2004. After a short postdoctoral training as a research associate at the same place, he joined IIT Guwahati in December 2004 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Saravana Kumar joined the faculty of Engineering Design in December 2008. In general his research aims at development of representational and computational tools for virtual and physical prototyping applied to arrive at solutions to design problems. Some of the specific research areas include CAD and 3D data acquisition technologies: geometrical modelling schemes, X-ray tomography, photogrammetry and image-based modelling systems; Rapid prototyping: advances in rapid prototyping technologies; Bio-inspired routes: fractal geometry, soft computing tools like neural networks, genetic algorithms for various inverse design and optimization problems.
